This unit introduces fundamental concepts of Bayesian statistics and illustrates how to apply them to various areas of scientific research. Probabilistic programming languages (WinBugs, JAGS and/or Stan) are introduced, and their interfaces to the statistical computing and graphics environment R are discussed.
