This unit covers the global study of an organism's genes, proteins, lipids, carbohydrates and metabolites. It teaches commonly used experimental approaches used to determine the genome, proteome, glycome and metabolome of particular cells and organelles including electrophoresis, high performance liquid chromatography, mass spectrometry and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR).
